Deland started a new job!

This is the slow season for window washing - and most other home services like maid cleaning, pressure washing, etc. Also, we lost important momentum during the Spring (our second busiest time of the year) from trying to expand with Clearview Home Concierge. Right now, Clearview Window Washing is too slow to keep our family and Andrew (Deland’s business partner) afloat until October when our busy season begins. We are relying – almost completely – on our Quarterly Customers to get us though. So, we decide the best thing to do is have Andrew continue to run and work in the business while Deland tries his hand at something new!

This week, on July 1st, Deland started his new job at Courtesy Honda, in Lake Mary. He is training for the position of car salesman. Even Deland admits it is a little strange, but he has always wanted to try car sales. Now he gets the chance! Deland LOVES a good challenge, and enjoys the opportunity to rise to an occasion. Plus, he has read How to Close Every Sale, by Joe Girard twice. Joe is the #1 sales person of all time…literally. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most sales, a record which he still holds. Guess what Joe sold? That’s right, CARS. Deland is looking forward to trying the techniques Joe talks about.

If being a car salesman doesn’t work out very well, then we just go back to window washing in the Fall. If it does work out and we are making good money, then Andrew will continue to run Clearview Window Washing and hire the help they need to get through the busy season. Deland will continue to be involved with Clearview on a part-time basis. He is still in charge of “working on the business,” he just won’t be working “in” the business.

We feel really blessed that Deland got this job. One of our first window washing customers was Julie Miller. She is the General Manager at Courtesy Honda. She adores Deland. A few months ago Deland did a Send Out Cards presentation to the car salesmen at Courtesy Honda. She was impressed with his sales pitch. When we decided to see what job Deland could get, he immediately went to Julie. Courtesy Honda is the #1 Honda dealership in the district, and Deland is excited to be part of a “winning team.” Julie said they usually don’t hire people with no car sales experience, but she is excited to see what Deland can do. I think it helps that she already knows him pretty well. She knows his work ethic and that he is honest.

So, wish us luck in this new endeavor! We feel really good about the decision to have Deland get this job, so we feel that no matter how it goes, we will have something to gain from this experience. Also, now you know someone in the car business, so if you need a good deal give Deland a call!!!
